Meet Our Beautiful Daughter Emmaria
Meet our beautiful daughter Emmaria. She is 6 months old, and we also have our older daughter Aurora, who is 10.
When I was pregnant with Emmaria around 23 weeks, I was not feeling her move as much. After getting checked out, and going through many tests, it was determined she had a rare genetic condition called TUBA1A. Not a lot is known about it and each person with it is different. Emmaria's brain has been affected, and she has growth restrictions and developmental delays. She also has some vision impairment.
Currently, due to her condition, Emmaria has multiple therapies each week on top of other specialists she sees each month. She was born at 38 weeks and spent 35 days in the NICU. She was 5lbs 9.8oz. She had to be put on a ventilator, breathing machine, and feeding tube. Once sent home, she was able to come home without any breathing machines, and she had surgery for a G-tube.
Since day one, she has shown everyone just how strong she is regardless of her diagnosis. She smiles, she laughs, and makes all kinds of noises. At just 4 months, during one of her many hospital stays, she said "Home." She has to wear a helmet for her flat head and that is new β and she does not like it! Her vocal cords may be paralyzed, but she sure makes lots of noises and mimics.
She is loved and perfect. π Keep following her journey as she grows!
